ExTiX Deepin 21.1 Live based on Deepin 20.1 (latest) with Skype, Spotify, Refracta Snapshot and kernel 5.10.4-exton :: Build 210106/210103

NEWS 210106 ABOUT ExTiX Deepin 21.1 I’ve uploaded a new extra version of ExTiX Deepin, which has VirtualBox Guest Additions pre-installed. With those installed you can run ExTiX in full screen in VirtualBox. The additions couldn’t be installed while using kernel 5.10.4-exton. I had to install Deepin’s original kernel 5.4.50-amd64-desktop. In version 210106 I’ve also included Refracta Installer. Use it in VirtualBox if you want an exact copy of ExTiX Deepin installed. Before starting Refracta Installer you should run the […]

ExTiX Build 161203 for Intel Compute Sticks with LXQt 0.10.0 and kernel 4.8.0-26-exton-IntelAtom

News 181020 Today I was about to make a new version of my ExTiX Build from 161203. I quickly learned that it isn’t necessary. It turns out that full support for the Intel Compute Stick is included in all kernels from version 4.11 until today’s releases (4.18). Kernel 4.8.0-26-exton-IntelAtom (which was used in my build from 161203) was patched – see below. Without patches it wouldn’t have worked. Today any Linux system can run on the stick. At least all […]

NEWS 160128 about USB installations As you may have noticed the install scripts I have used for a long time, namely extix-create-usb-drive.sh and extix-create-usb-drive-persistent.sh, doesn’t work anymore. I.e. persistence won’t be enabled. I have, however, today “discovered” that you can use the regular installation program (Ubiquity) to perform a USB Flash Drive installation. Do it like this. 1. Start up ExTiX from a DVD and log in as root. 2. Insert a USB stick of 8GB, 16GB or 32GB and […]
